Effective 11:59pm on November 30, 2024, Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority will stop accepting applications for Public Housing, Harr Plaza, and International Plaza waiting lists.

All applicants who applied prior to November 30, 2024 at 11:59pm must continue to report all changes to contact information, household composition, and income through the LMHA Portal.

LMHA will announce in advance when the Waiting List will reopen.

The Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority (LMHA) will be accepting pre-applications for the Housing Choice Voucher Program waiting list on July 17, 2024. The waiting list will open at 8:00am and close at 4:00pm.

New applicants may apply through the Applicant Login. Existing residents may apply through the Resident Login.

LMHA also has kiosks at the following locations which will be available during this time to submit an application:

• Lakeview Plaza, 310 Seventh St, Lorain 
• International Plaza, 1825 Homewood Dr, Lorain 
• Riverview Plaza, 310 East Ave, Elyria

Applicants and Residents can report changes, upload documents, and complete certification forms.  Landlords can view ledgers, inspection information, and update information.

The Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority (LMHA) has awarded 62 Project Based Vouchers to Emerald Development and Economic Network (EDEN), Inc. and Bridge Pointe Commons LP for the development of a 62-unit permanent supportive housing project to be located at 338 East Bridge Street in Elyria, Ohio. 

The proposal was evaluated according to the proposal review selection criteria, 24 CFR Part 983, and the LMHA Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) Administrative Plan.  LMHA will make its selection records and documentation for the basis of selection available for public inspection at the LMHA Main Office 1600 Kansas Ave., Lorain, Ohio.  Inquiries can be made by calling LMHA at (440) 288-1600 or by email to lmha1600@lmha.org.

The Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority has determined to stop accepting applications for all housing programs effective 11:59 p.m. October 31, 2019.

Currently there are approximately 3,000 applications to be processed for the Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, and Multifamily housing programs. Historically, only a small percentage - 30% - of applicants complete the required process for housing assistance. In order to increase efficiency and reach those in need, the Authority will process all 3,000 applicants for housing programs to determine who is eligible before accepting new applications. Processing current applications will speed up the process for eligible families, as many are currently waiting months to be seen due to the volume of applicants.

LMHA Admissions Supervisor, Jennifer Zvosechz, indicates that many applicant circumstances change while waiting processing, which often affect the family’s status and eligibility. Faster processing of applications will provide better service to families in need already on the application list. After the current applicant list has been exhausted, applications for housing programs will again be accepted. The Authority is projected to reopen the application lists in early 2020.

LMHA has begun advertising that effective October 31, 2019 at 11:59pm, we will stop accepting applications for all housing programs.
