What is LMHA?

Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority was established in 1938 to provide housing to the low income population of Lorain County. This housing program is government subsidized through the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Resident Services Department

What does the Resident Services Department (RSD) do?
LMHA has found that once the housing needs are met, residents may have other needs that prevent their household from living comfortably. Every family has its own ideas that will fulfill their wants and goals. The Resident Services Department (RSD) was formed to assist with these issues. Whether it is developing programs for adults and children or just planning a social and recreational community activity, LMHA hopes to provide the assistance that will enhance the resident's life. This department works hand-in-hand with resident councils and local social service agencies to improve the community.

How do we do this?
Your community has a resident council. It is a group of elected residents who know the needs of their households and wish to make a difference in their community. RSD is the link between the residents and the LMHA management. It provides answers and action to solve your questions in a timely fashion.

HUD Grants are available to all housing authorities. LMHA makes every effort to apply for various grants to provide training, self improvement, and recreational programs for adults and children. With the input of residents, RSD collaboratively selects the necessary programs to enhance the residents' lifestyle.

LMHA cannot do it alone. RSD works with local social service agencies to be informed of current issues that may affect our resident communities. Residents also contribute their ideas that make many changes in their community.
